Scrapbook Simplicity - Frame it up!!

One last post for the month concerning frames !!  This is a super simple way to use stamps that have a border that allows for the center to be cut out or covered
with an image, journaling, poetry, etc.

The stamps are all retired Stampin' Up!  An oblong stamp was used to edge the page with white embossing.  Subtle, I really wanted the page to stay soft and sweet and leave enough room that the recipient (or in this case my students) could add embellishments, ribbon or color without problem.
I left an extra inch on the binding side of the page so that it can be easily inserted into our homemade scrapbook covers.  All of the images were stamped with pigment ink so that a thick coating of clear heat embossing powder could be added.  Dimensional tape is used on the sides and bottom of the fussy cuts so that a photo, etc can be dropped into place behind them!  The flower is simply the result of 3 flower punches, layered and curled up, a dot of glue in the center only of each one :)

WARNING!  It is very possible you could get hooked on their amazingly beautiful stamps!

You Rock! - Frame it Up!!

Here is another framed creation (I love frames!!) I am excited to enter into the Power Poppy May Challenge

I love this image from Unity Stamp Co.  I have made several cards for birthdays with this & this one was a special order :)  I used Glossy Accents on the guitar to give it the glow that acoustic guitars so often have.  I have also used watercolor pencils and blender pens to color the images.

The Frame is an indispensable oldie from Stampin' Up!  I like the way cutting out the interior of the frame give it depth & dimension.  To emphasize this I also backed it with an embossed brick wall overstamped with a Unity background.  I fussy cut the teen rocker and layered on the sentiment with a purple shaded label die cut. A sprinkle of twinkling stars and... 💜

I thought it was fun to put them side by side.  I like the dark with purple letters a little better!  Sometimes orders
are for the exact replica of a previously pictured card, so the side by side is fun for me!!!
Check out my Facebook page "Hi!" Notes and feel free to leave a little love!!  You can also message me from there to inquire about custom cards & scrapbook pages 😍

Anchors - Frame it up!

I have to admit it.  The following flurry of my posts are a direct result of deeply desiring to win the $50 Power Poppy stamps is offering in their May challenge, Frame It Up!

I like great backgrounds and adding a hollow frame so that the card is decorated, but the beauty of the background isn't lost in the process!!  Here is one using mostly embossing and die cuts.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and the Anchor die is Spellbinders - Shapeabilities In'spire dies - Anchors Away.  Using the plastic packaging from one of my dies I used a Kaisercraft Embossing Folder laid over white to help the embossing really pop and layered on the rest :)

Hope you've enjoyed this post

THEME CHALLENGE!!! BLOOMS!

💗Welcome to a very special PIP Challenge! Usually our challenges are anything goes, but when a Monday falls as the 5th Monday of that month . . . . . . Theme music please!!

Monday May 29th's design challenge is BLOOMS!!!
Di's Digi's thought this was a great idea too & is sponsoring our prize this week ~ click the link to check them out & if you're in the mood drop them a note of thanks for sponsoring our PIP Challenge :)

Interpret it how you like, think outside of the box if you dare!  For me, I went literal ;) I am also in love with these wonderful stamps From Unity Stamp Co.

I loved the idea of the framing the ghost image behind the gold embossed heart so I stamped (embossed in black) & water colored the shoe image and then on vellum I embossed and colored the gold heart w/flowers making sure of placement before I trimmed.

In the heart of the flower I used prismatic glitter and a few bronze/gold flakes. They really catch the light!

I mounted the vellum right up against the image using a thin double stick tape which does double duty as a soft border and left some overhang on the vellum for another border affect on the dark blue.

"Missing you lots" sentiment is embossed in pale blue on a Spellbinders die cut click to go to one of my FAVORITE discount retailers!!

Another blossom is my oldest daughter whom inspired this card!  A teen whose left home & blooming in the big city.  As graduation draws near I was thinking a card like this might touch the hearts of a lot of parents out there 💗💗💗

Birds and Bokeh

Good morning!  I love this time of year when the morning air is still cool but you can sleep with the windows open all night!!  The birds are my alarm clock and the morning light is the most beautiful of the day!

That's what has inspired this card.  I made the background to mimic an out of focus rose bush with splotches of smeared distress inks and then I used my circle dies to make stencils and Versamarked them in -  embossing the damp ink with clear powder.

To me it looks just like the bokeh of sunshine on dew in the early morning :)

I wanted the whole thing to stay "airy" so when I cut the frame I kept it hollow, & added some other die cuts - birds, greenery - a label stamped with leaves and a great sentiment (an oldie from Stampin' Up!)

To give it just a little more of a delicate look I decided to add another frame behind the first.  This die cut is from Poppystamps "Bailiwick Background" & has delicate vines twining around in it.
Inside the card, antiqued the edges and added a strip of
ribbon that matches the "flavor" & colors of the card

Ahhh... so fresh and pretty ~ hope you all get a chance to enjoy the beautiful mornings before the full heat of Summer hits!!

'The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.

Missing You Card for PIP Challenges #1720

Hello & Welcome to PIP Challenge Design Team Member (that's me!!)

INSPIRATION CARD!

This Week our challenge sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps! They always offer such generous prizes and they also provided me with this adorable digital image!!

I can think of so many ways to use this image but I really loved the missing you aspect because of the pretty little home scene!  To make my sentiment I just chose a font in "Word" and sized it to fit my image, printed it with enough space to do the die cutting I'd planned and - tada!! - all done!

A friendly reminder: I sprayed this with workable fixative before I started coloring. Last time I tried hair spray and although it worked I can tell you I like the way colors move on the fixative better. I used a marker to draw in the wall paper lines and the color went on smooth & soft.  I tried this again on a stamped card (so no need for fixative) and the marker left overlap marks and was much more intense - not the look I was going for so the Workable Fixatif might be fun to use on other projects as well :)

I used this die to cut the label shapes (check it out on Amazon - AMAZING price!!) and embossed coral paper with a Sizzix embossing folder.

https://www.mftstamps.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=NUVO+glitter+dropsThe really fun part? Figuring out where to use some Nuvo Drops!! The purple- Nuvo Glitter Drops in Purple Rain- and the orange - something brand new Nuvo JEWEL Drops in Orange Marmalade.  Wowzers!! These are so pretty I wanted to put them everywhere!! The jewel drops are kinda see through and the colors are amazing :)

Hopefully you're feeling inspired and I look forward to seeing your entry in this weeks PIP Challenge!!!
