The Witch is IN!

More fun with Angie Blom witch craft ⭐🌜😂

One of my favorite things about cardmaking is all the details.  I am definitely not one of the quickest card makers out there.  I just love to keep adding little tidbits of joy to my projects!!  I also tend to make card fronts and then figure out how to add backs to them without just pasting the front to a blank card base!

I hope you're having as much fun with this season as I am!!  I can hardly wait to see all the little faces at my door ~ act amazed, a little afraid, filled with laughter ~ as I fill hollow plastic pumpkins with candies!!

Beautiful Birds

I just can't get enough of these Beautiful Birds from
Unity Stamp Co's KOM Dec 2016!!

On this oversized card I first embossed them on vellum and layered it on a stamped background.  Ribbons & lace border the vellum.

Adhesive is hidden on the back of the stamped panel as vellum & all are wrapped around it and adhered in the back.

I punched an edge on it and folded it over the dark cardstock (Island Indigo/Stampin' Up!) to help decorate the back.

3D flowers energize the front, with centers of glossy accents over raspberry ink & sprinkled with glitter.

So that there would be somewhere to add a note or stamp a sentiment, white embossed paper was added & rubbed with matching ink.  The single little bird was a fun for me accent!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!  The following is a list of fun challenges where I've entered this card.

New Triple Layer Dies!!

Another beautiful Easter holiday has come & gone!! Wow, time waits for no one!  But what a great week it was.  Our school usually doesn't have the kids out on break during Holy Week so this year was an exciting exception. Another great exception was the weather. Usually AWFUL for Spring Break this year it was lovely, they went for runs (prepping for track season!), and played with the new calf outside!!

Me?  I had to work!! But it's only part time so I still got to enjoy their wonderful, young and energetic presence!!  I also had time to try out a new die set❣  I used Easter-y colors to make Easter cards! The ones I didn't use I will be able to make a quick Spring Birthday, Get Well, Thank You card, etc 🙂

Aren't they great!!  Super simple, fun and fast!!  Just a matter of die cutting and layering.  I used spray adhesive to quickly get an all over adhesion.

HERE'S A TIP: if you would like to have glitter show in only 1 layer without bulk & rumple then spray the layer you want it on FIRST!(ie before other layers), layer the one on top of it to stick, THEN put glitter in the holes and work it in a little with a brush or finger tip.  To have no sticky residue (& no glitter)  be sure to always spray the top layer first (on the back of it) and work your way down in layers.
Just to help you get started with color ideas (I sometimes used only 2 layers to show more of the lower color)
They are so pretty in person!  If you have any questions I'll be happy to get back to you ;)

Don't forget to make the back pretty!!

This is so much fun.  I cut several colors out of each layer and then messed with layering them up after I was done cutting.  I still wound up cutting a couple of extras as I had color epiphanies all along the way!!

Since I didn't want to cover much of the card fronts, label style worked
well for me.  I think gems or
Nuvo Crystal Drops would also have
added a beautiful dimension! Alas, I was in a hurry to have them done and given away!!

I love these sentiments!!

Clearly Beautiful ~ Anything Goes PIP Challenge!!

This image is an example of laying out all of
the pieces to see how they might work together.

Hello & welcome to the 10th week of the new year!!  It is time for PIP Challenge #1810 and your chance to win $12 of fun stuff (you choose!!!) from this week's sponsor Di's Digis!!

I invite you to follow the link RIGHT NOW to check out all of her fun, digital stamps!! Lots of adorable kids & critters!
Today's inspiration card is a result of one of my FaVoRiTe techniques!  I keep all of the rigid, clear & flat plastic from different containers and then use it for card fronts! Butterflies are on my mind as I'm longing for Spring days!  Check out my favorite Card using this technique HERE!
Cut the clear window piece to size and leave a tab to attach the card back.  Then just have fun adding die cuts or fussy cuts covering the adhesive on the inside of the card with the same die cut !

I used the white die cut piece for a quick note & signature.  The inside was embossed and rubbed with ink & I layered the decorative pieces to either hide or peek out of the front panel of the card.

Incase the sender wanted to write a note I left the back blank and used a piece trimmed from the inside and an extra butterfly!  I thought with a cute sentiment this could be a CAS card front by its self!!

Here it is completed & closed.  See how the flowers are layered and the inside sentiment is hidden!  These are simply so much fun, plus they are flat and mail just like a regular card :)

Galaxy Backgrounds and Winter's Cold

If you're anything like me, YOU LOVE THE GALAXY BACKGROUNDS!!!  Oh my, they are so pretty and forgiving!!  You can add nearly any colors, do any depth of darkness and once you spatter it with a few water droplets and some white (I used white out for these) it's gorgeous!!  I decided to make a giant sheet of galaxy and then cut out sections as I needed them ~ a real time saver :)

I have found that I have a fixation with the night sky.  I've done it a lot of ways, swirls, lace etc.  I thought the galaxy made the snow scene look even more chilly so that's the way I set it up, a little barren to lend more focus on the feeling rather than the content.  I had lot of fun doing several of these; some turned out better than others. Here are a couple for your perusal, I hope you enjoy.

The above card is a sample of recycle.  The words were on the bottom of a mailer I received and saved for something just like this!!!  I cut it down to size and added the stitched border with a die from Avry Elle.

Don't forget, if  you'd like a closer look just click the images

I love dressing the back too!!
For the second card the only rubber stamp used was the sentiment from Unity Stamp Co. Proof that you don't need a ton of images if you have some great sentiments!!

Thanks for visiting!!  I hope you're finding great ways to stay warm and maybe even a little time for crafting!

Eve Girl

Wow!! Christmas was not only beautiful this year but it was simply BEAUTIFUL!  I got less done that ever, the least amount of baking, gifts, cards, & money but. . . . WOW!!  It was beautiful :)

Finally a little slower around here, it is time for "Thank You" cards!! One of my favorites   from Unity Stamp Company is "Eve Girl".  Here she is in water color!!  I  used a background die from Spellbinders -"Flurries" - and water colored a background for it that went well with Eve's color scheme! Avoiding heaviness on the front of the card, I stamped the sentiment on vellum ~ it is slightly transparent and doesn't choke  the space.

I think she is just as full of joy as I was upon receiving the gift she's being sent off as a "Thank You" for!!

To avoid adding more weight to the front of the card by mounting it on the white cardstock I wanted on the back,  I left a tab to attach a white back.  This time I decided to punch the snow border along it and then sprinkle the flakes around my label.

I also added a cozy little stamp (also from
Unity Stamps) to the inside right bottom
of the inside of the card for a finishing touch.

I hope you've had a Wow! holiday and wish you a New Year FILLED with good things. Thanks for visiting!!

Gratitude

Hello Again PIP Challenge Followers!!  This week we have an anything goes challenge # 1746.  Di's Digis is our prize sponsor so for your chance to win just post your creation on the PAMMIES INKY PINKIES CHALLENGE BLOG !!

I am feeling quite thankful this time of year, a perfect time to use this sentiment and adorable fox from Unity Stamp Company Woodland Fox

I also used my favorite set of swirls from HOT OFF THE PRESS "Feathers" masked into the background all on watercolor paper!

For an Autumn flavor I used a yellow green fade out,  colorful acrylic leaves and Nuvo dots for accents.
Then I had some fun using an envelope flap die to die cut the sides and a flap to attach the back of the card so that  gold would show through the front.  Such a beautiful combination of color and texture I think <3  Hope you have enjoyed and feel inspired!!  I will be watching for your entries                                                    on the PIP Challenge Blog.

Have a Beautiful Autumn and a Blessed
and Happy Thanksgiving

You Friend, are a HOOT!

Good morning & welcome to another fun week at the Hi Notes blog!!Remember that sample of plaid paper I was teasing you with?  Well, here it is!! There is also a second plaid project hiding in this post, can you see it??
Caption: "Chiller" font before printing
They are generously donating the prize  to one lucky crafter!

I have to admit I did have another digi from them that I planned to use this week, but I got 80% into my project & realized I would need more water color paper!  No big deal! Right?  Not when you live between mountain ranges in the middle of no where!!  So I had to put on the brakes and think up a new project.  It was painful for me to give up on the autumn card I was so excited about!!  My plan was to use these owls in a Halloween post, but I love this digital so much that I was able to think up something fun in a jiffy!! So be watching for a completed water color Autumn card with more Bugaboo Images!!!

do you see the second plaid project? :)
Inspired by Tatiana Craft & Art with her non-traditional leaf colors I decided to make one of the cards with pinks, blues & purples!!  Thanks Tatiana!!  I really love those cards :)

I printed off a few of these owls because I wanted to be prepared with back ups!!!  I do this a lot since once I cut my full size sheet I can not run it throught the printer again, this way I utilize the paper better, esp if I need to print off a second digi!!

I thought it would be fun to lay the cards flat so you could see the backs & how they were constructed.  I think I will add a stitched edge to the back flaps.

Here are the insides :) CLICK photos to view them larger

Day 4 Growing in Unity ~ Share the Love!

Welcome to our 4th day of Growing in Unity here at "HI!" Notes.  Nothing gets a day or month off to a good start like sharing LOVE !!

Since February is National Friendship Month it got me thinking of all the different kinds of love we can celebrate on St. Valentine's Day, February 14th!!!

I started by selecting several different stamps whose sentiments & images went together in some way, either conventional, humorous or unexpected.

Today's post will be light.  Just a fun pictorial of several cards with great St. Valentine's Day potential!  I'll add comments here & there, but if you have any questions, please post them in your comments & I'll try to get right back to you :)

Backgrounds: choose a stamp to repeat in the background. Using a pale ink, I staggered it row by row so that there'd be no vertical columns, masking off the main image (stamped first).  For the string of hearts I didn't mask, I just stamped & colored them right over the background words.

Because so many layers makes the card front heavy, I like to counter balance it with an extra layer inside.  Not only is it pretty but it feels so balanced when you open or display it.  Leave a little extra paper on the back of the card to punch an edge.

A close up of my custom trim job!  I do this so there
is no worry about getting ink from large areas of
blank rubber on projects. Always be sure to leave
plenty of cushion under the stamp-able areas
to get a closer look just click on the photos!!

I think of these images and sentiments being great for a child to baby sitter, or child to daddy, or maybe a big sis to the child, a big brother. . . I just love the possibilities concerning different relationships
